The film falls into all the predictable patterns of a summer blockbuster. It gives away answers too quickly to questions that should remain mysteries for the majority of the film. However, if you have seen enough of these films then it wouldn’t matter whether the film answered the questions early on or not. The structure is predictable. Dastan is framed for the death of king. He goes on the run to try and prove his innocence. Obviously he is innocent or else he would disappear never to be seen or heard from again.

The film tries to get you to fall for the obvious culprit, so you can rule out that enemy. It is always the ones that seem the most loyal that are the traders, only because you never really saw the hatred behind their eyes. So after the english movie spends two thirds of the runtime to get to the point that the audience knew from the first moment, the audience gets bored. The screenwriters try to suck the audiences back in with some high-octane action. I will admit that the choreography is quite good. But in the end it doesn’t make up for the lackluster moments in between. This the latest english hit movies this year.

The Expendables is the best action film of the summer. Of course, compared to such efforts as Salt, Knight and Day, and The A-Team, that might not be saying much. With an armada of '80s machismo at his disposal (with some help from the current crop of big screen bad-asses) and a splatter movie mentality to the violence, the 64-year-old creative hyphenate known as Sylvester Stallone clearly understands his fan base. The ragtag collection of mercenaries he puts together for this satisfying combination of blood, bullets, and balls is epic in talent and testosterone -- and luckily, the vain former superstar recognizes when to step back and let his compatriots take center stage for their own moments of fists and firepower.
We first meet the Expendables while rescuing the crew of a tanker overtaken by Somali pirates. The main group consists of Barney Ross (Stallone), his right hand man and knife-wielder supreme Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), combat specialist Yin Yang (Jet Li), demolitions expert Toll Road (Randy Couture), heavy weapons god Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) and mandatory loose cannon Gunnar Jenson (Dolph Lundgren).
Upon returning to their main hangout -- the tattoo parlor run by ex-Expendable Tool (Mickey Rourke) -- they are offered another highly dangerous job. The dictator of a small island, General Garza (David Zayas) is working with a rogue CIA agent (Eric Roberts) to run drugs into America. Naturally, elements inside the agency want him stopped. Barney's initial reaction is to stay out of such messes. But after meeting up with Garza's estranged daughter (Giselle ItiÃ©) things go from professional to personal.
With a cast consisting of (almost) every big name from the heyday of high concept Hollywood stunt spectacles and a love of all things beefy, brawny, and bloody, The Expendables is a truly guilty pleasure -- a gutsy love letter to the undying romance between man and machine gun. It represents a comeback of sorts for the mindless joys inherent in watching things -- including people and their various body parts -- blow up with recklessly entertaining abandon. As he did with Rambo a few years back, Stallone doesn't sugarcoat the carnage. His soldiers for hire wreck gloriously gory vengeance on anyone who dares wander into their commando cross-hairs. As heads disintegrate and limbs leave their respective joints, the movie delivers on every taut, tense sequence of pre-vivisecting exposition.
At its core, The Expendables is an origins story, an attempt by Stallone to do the same thing with this group of grunts as he did for John Rambo and Rocky Balboa. We are introduced to the various characters, their idiosyncrasies and personal crises, and then left with enough lingering questions to warrant a sequel (or even better, an ongoing franchise). Standouts include Statham as the blade-wielding wise guy, Li as an aging martial artist with "little man's syndrome", and a sweaty, swarthy Lundgren as a drug-addled assassin with a questionable sense of loyalty. Even Rourke gets a "lost my soul" monologue that's outstanding.
As they say, however, the hero mythos is only as valid as the villain, and Julia's bro Eric is amazing as the evil bureaucrat hellbent on turning this tiny atoll into his own personal coke-strewn banana republic. He chews the tropical scenery with such finesse that he almost steals the film from the rest of his 'roid raging brethren.
During the fabulous finale that sees Crews literally tearing the movie apart with his sub-nuclear hand bazooka while the rest of the group maneuvers a multitude of bomb blasts, The Expendables finally proves its point. In a system which praises the pathetic excesses of Michael Bay and goes gaga over the simplified shaky-cam approach to action, Stallone knows his genre. He can battle royale with the best of them.

Gorillas in the Mist is based on the autobiographical 1983 book by naturalist Dian Fossey. Before the book could be brought before the cameras, Fossey had been mysteriously killed; her death provides a logical, if somewhat ghoulish climax to the film. A Kentucky girl, Fossey (Sigourney Weaver) is inspired by famed anthropologist Louis Leakey (Iain Cuthbertson) to devote her life to the study of primates. Traveling into deepest Africa, Fossey becomes fascinated with the lives and habits of the rare mountain gorillas of the Ugandan wilderness. Studying them at close quarters, Fossey develops a means of communicating with the gorillas, and in so doing becomes obsessed with the beasts' well-being. She is so devoted to "her" mountain that she loses the opportunity for a romance with a National Geographic photographer (Bryan Brown). Appalled by the poaching of the gorillas for their skins, Fossey complains to the Ugandan government, which dismisses her by explaining that poaching is the only means by which some of the Ugandan natives can themselves survive. She refuses to accept this, and becomes a militant animal-rights activist, burning down the poachers' villages and even staging a mock execution of one of the offenders. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Being the owner of two turntables, I enjoy playing my records and creating my own mixes. Don't get me wrong though, I limit myself purely to the bedroom dj experience, and I'm quite happy with it. I bought my turntables nearly 6 years ago, and in that small time span it's interesting how the MP3 has made them close to obsolete. Nowadays the majority of DJs, carry their tracks around on laptops and mix with sophisticated applications like Virtual DJ. These offer all the classic characteristics of a mixer and turntables but usually add sampler-like effects and loops to customize your set.

With Virtual DJ, you can do all your djing on your PC. Drag and drop your tracks from your music database to the turntables. Adjust the sound levels, synchronize the songs by adjusting pitch, smoothly drag the cross fader to create the transition between the tracks and set high, mid and low to ensure that your mix is flowing. If you don't want to worry about your transitions, press the auto mix button and let Virtual DJ do all the work for you.

What makes Virtual DJ exciting to aspiring DJs are the sample loops and jingles you can spontaneously add to your mix. Drag and drop effects like backspin, flippin double and brake to play around with the tracks. Bring in loops to add a rhythm or melody to the music. If you know how to introduce and time these effects well, you can really turn the set to your own flavour and create your own signature sound.

Virtual DJ also lets novice djs dominate the dance floor. If you're really not confident about your djing capabilities you can choose to prerecord your own mix. Saving your recording as an MP3 is probably the best option, although in Virtual DJ you can also create a mix CD, handy if you want a backup or if you're not planning on bringing your laptop to the party. Virtual DJ is accessible to beginners and packed with extra features. The only real downside however, is that Virtual DJ has a tendency to jam when you're adding effects, samples or tweaking the equalizer during a mix. There's nothing worse when you're in the middle of a set and you've got people on the dance floor. To avoid surprises, we suggest that you record your mix beforehand or that you use effects sparingly.

On the whole, Virtual DJ is an intuitive and exciting application for beginning and aspiring DJs. You'll get the chance to showcase your very own styled mix without having to buy and carry around expensive and bulky equipment.
